Two minors, including a 12-year-old boy, who went missing from Chimipang, Barp gewog in Punakha about a week ago were found together safe in Thimphu on August 6.

The 17-year-old girl initially claimed that the boy was not with her. However, sources said that they were together from the moment of their disappearance until they were located.

Kuensel learned that the two were residing in a one-room flat at Hejo which belonged to a distant relative of the girl. It was found through the girl’s mobile phone that she was in Thimphu on the same day that she went missing.

The girl was examined by a doctor, who found no evidence of sexual activity, but she was sent to a psychiatric facility for additional care.

The boy’s mother had made the discovery of her 12-year-old son’s absence when she woke up on the morning of July 30. The boy is a Class IV student in a school in Lobesa.
