Punakha police have detained a 33-year old man in Punakha for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl when she was walking home from school on August 28. 

The crime was reported to the police by the school counselor of the school on August 30.

The minor is a class IV student in one of the schools in the dzongkhag.

According to the sources the suspect, who is a farmer, and the victim are neighbours. On the evening of the incident the suspect was returning home from his work when he met the victim on the way.

Sources said that the accused allegedly grabbed her hand and was supposedly dragged along the side of the road by the accused. He is then alleged to have forcefully kissed her and made inappropriate upper body contact. 

It is said the victim is in a stable condition. The case is under investigation.
