Tshering, 49, the candidate from Khatoed Gewog is the NC MP-elect from Gasa after he secured 986 votes including 819 votes on EVM.

The incumbent NC member, Dorji Khandu, 37, secured 806 including 88 in postal ballots.

Of the 285 postal ballots issued, the RO office received 273, and 16 were rejected.

Tshering has a Bachelor’s degree in Language and Cultural Studies, and a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from University of Montana, USA.

There are 2,279 registered voters including 1,083 men and 1196 women.

Gasa has 11 polling stations with five in Lunana, three in Khamed, two in Laya and one in Khatoed Gewog.

Gasa has four gewogs: Laya, Khatoe, Khamed, and Lunana. While Khamed and Lunana gewog did not had a nomination.
