Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche was conferred with an honorary degree by SOAS University of London at their graduation ceremony on September 5.

“I can only hope that occidentals will try to appreciate oriental and African studies. Not just from a position of power, but with real respect, if not humility. If this happens, the definition of objectivity, which happens to be so important in Western academia, may carry a different meaning,” Rinpoche stated at the ceremony.
