Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering performed surgery on eight different cases at the Wangdicholing hospital along with a team from the hospital yesterday. There were three cases each of laparoscopic cholecystectomy and laparoscopic tubal ligation, and one case each of excision of lipoma, and tongue tie frenotomy.

Lyonchhen also monitored and guided the team.

He talked about how the pandemic has affected the nation and how every individual should act responsibly.

Lyonchhen met with employees of the hospital in the evening. “Health workers’ profession is different from other professions since we deal with sick people,” Lyonchhen said.

“If you treat them with love and affection, the patients will pay you great respect and remain grateful,” he said.

Hospital officials also asked Lyonchhen about the needs of the hospital. Lyonchhen said he would look into those issues but asked the hospital staff to draw up a list and analyse it first.

Lyonchhen is returning from Lhuentse where he inaugurated the Yugichu hydropower project earlier this month. He also visited all the gewogs meeting the public and the civil servants in Lhuentse.

He will also visit gewogs and meet public and civil servants in Bumthang. Of the four gewogs, Tang and Ura have already been covered and he is expected to leave for Thimphu on July 24.

Lyonchhen will visit Jakar Higher Secondary School, Chhokhor gewog, the Chhokhor farm road blacktopping site, and Zhabjethang Lhakhang today.
