The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland to Bhutan was inaugurated in Thimphu yesterday.

The ceremony was attended by Adam Burakowski, Ambassador of Poland to Bhutan;  Ewa Stankiewicz, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Poland, New Delhi; Wangchuk Namgay, Speaker of National Assembly of Bhutan; Pema Choden, Foreign Secretary; Wangdi Jamyang, Honorary Consul of Bhutan to Poland along with Honorary Consuls of Bhutan to Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Adam Burakowski said that the inauguration of the Consulate marks a new era in the relationship between Poland and Bhutan.

The Ambassador also said that the growth of friendship between the two countries would lead to an increase in tourism between Poland and Bhutan. “Poland promotes peace and stability in the world as Bhutan does and we share many common values.

Bhutan and the Republic of Poland established diplomatic relations on November 29, 2012.
