The education ministry has directed students and teachers who were relocated to Phaduna, Punakha to return to Phuentsholing.

Education officiating secretary Karma Galay wrote to Phuentsholing thrompon that the ministry would like to reopen classes IX to XII for three government secondary schools under Phuentsholing thromde.

“Similarly, the staff of Phuentsholing school will also be transferred back to the respective secondary schools under Phuentsholing thromde,” the letter stated.

Teachers and students from Phuentsholing Higher Secondary School, Sonamgang and Phuentsholing Middle Secondary School in Phuentsholing resumed classes at Phaduna in Punakha after a lockdown was imposed in Phuentsholing due to rising community cases. Classes were held online prior to their relocation.

The letter to the thrompon also stated that the Phuentsholing thromde to coordinate the reopening of the secondary classes and transfer all staff including the arrangement of transportation back to Phuentsholing.

The schools are asked to take back those properties brought from Phuentsholing last year including computers supplied by the education ministry.

The notice comes as a relief to students and teachers at Phaduna as they had earlier shared various concerns over prolonged stay at Phaduna.

From three different schools in Phuentsholing, 860 students reached Phaduna in September last year.
