Coinciding with the birth anniversary of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen on June 4 Trans Bhutan Trail (TBT) in collaboration with School Scout Association (SSA) initiated a walk along traditional routes across the nation.

Mongar High School scouts walked more than 30 kilometres from Mongar via Konbar to Themnangbi and back in a day-long event. Students collected trash along the ancient trail and cleared bushes.

Scouts gathered sacks of litter along the trail and disposed of them at the strategic road point to be later collected by the municipal waste transport.

Mongar SSA unit leader, Tashi Wangchuk, said that the team was tasked to survey, assess and report to TBT of any major maintenance or development needed on the abandoned trails. They found no major issues except the need to clear bush cover.

The event was also observed in five other schools in Mongar.

It was a major preparatory event for the Eco-Tourism Flagship program.
