Thimphu police arrested six men, in the 20s, including a non-Bhutanese for alleged possession of controlled substances.

Police, on June 11, arrested two men, a 25-year-old man from Chengmari in Samtse for possessing four packets of marijuana, weighing 33.7gms and a 26-year-old man from Cooch Bihar in West Bengal, India for testing positive for abuse of THC, also known as tetrahydrocannabinol, an ingredient found in the cannabis plant.

The men were arrested from the Thimphu thromde’s multi-parking construction site.

On the same day, they arrested a 26-year-old man from Khasakha in Thimphu for possessing 864 capsules of spasmoproxyvon (SP) and a 19-year old man from Drengzhing in Trongsa for possessing four packets of dry marijuana weighing 18.3gms.

On June 15, police arrested a 21-year-old man from Kabesa in Punakha for possessing 24 capsules of SP and tested positive for tramadol and a 22-year-old man from Pemathang in Gelephu for possessing 16 capsules of SP and testing positive for tramadol.
