A Swiss business delegation, headed by Dr Ralf Heckner, Ambassador of Switzerland to India and Bhutan, will travel to Bhutan from July 31 to August 03.

During the visit, the 30-member high-level business delegation from 16 Swiss companies and chambers of commerce will hold meetings with the representatives of the government as well as the private sector.

The Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry will sign two Memoranda of Understanding on business cooperation with the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce and the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services.

Ferring Pharmaceuticals is expected to launch a path-breaking drug for the prevention of post- partum haemorrhage, a major issue of maternal mortality.

The visit is expected to further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

A press release from the embassy states: “After a long absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the business mission will symbolically mark the return of a strong Swiss presence in Bhutan, a comeback that will be brought to the fore by the celebration of Swiss National Day on August 1.”

It is the second visit of the Swiss business mission, titled ‘Back to Business for a Sustainable Future’. They first visited the country in 2019.
