After electing the incumbent NC member for consecutive three terms, Samdrupjongkhar chose an international business administrator from Gomdar Gewog this time.

Tshewang Rinchen, 37, won an overwhelming victory against five opponents. He won 2,321 postal ballots and 3,318 votes through EVM from 53 polling stations.

He had said during his campaign that he would strive to fulfil the legislative and policy review mandates and to ensure legislations are inclusive and of national importance.




Tshewang Rinchen has a Master in Business Administration International from Edith Cowan University, Australia, and worked in the Ministry of Education and Skills Development.

Tshering Norbu, 49, from Martshala Gewog secured 3,117 including 1,329 postal ballots followed by Lauri Gewog’s Tempa Gyeltshen with 2,999 votes.




The oldest candidate from Samdrupjongkhar Thromde, Karma Tshering Wangchuk, 59, secured 2,081 votes. Ran Bahadur Biswa, 49, from Langchenphu gewog got 1,517 votes. The candidate from Pemathang Gewog, Tshering Choeda, 46, secured 965.

The 11 gewogs saw a total voter turnout of 16,318 including 7,267 postal ballots. There are   28,708 registered voters in the dzongkhag.
