Coinciding the 113th national day, His Holiness the Je Khenpo conferred Khadar to newly appointed lam netens of Bumthang and Samdrupjongkhar at the Punakha dzong.
Forty-seven-year-old Lam Dorji is the new Samdrupjongkhar lam neten. He joined the monk body at eight in Wangduephodrang Dratshang. Serving as a teacher, he later underwent retreat at Cheri Monastry in Thimphu.
Prior to his appointment as the lam neten, he served as the Principal of Talo Shedra in Punakha.
Lam Kinley Penjor, 56, is the new Bumthang lam neten. He is from Nubi Gewog in Trongsa.
He started his monastic education at nine in Trongsa Dratshang. After his studies, he served as the principal of Trongsa Dratshang for seven years. He went on to receive teachings from His Holiness the late Je Thrizur and His Holiness the Je Khenpo.
He served as Bumde Lam at Trongsa Dratshang prior to the current appointment.
