After 19 days of Bhutan Women’s National League Qualifiers 2024, Transport United Ladies have maintained their winning streak with nine points from three consecutive wins.
As of yesterday, the team remains a formidable opponent to any of the seven other participating teams in the qualifiers.
Each team in the qualifiers will play seven games. Transport United Ladies require a few more wins to secure their place in the 2024 Bhutan Women’s National League in style.
In their last three games, the team’s biggest win was against Panchali FC 33-0, followed by victories against BFF Academy 3-1 and Ugyen Academy 3-2.
RTC Women’s FC is also a strong team, having won both of their games against Royal Academy 27-0 and Daga United FC 14-0.
BFF Academy managed six points from three games, and Ugyen Academy Women’s FC got three points from two matches.
It is likely that Transport United Ladies, RTC Women’s FC, BFF Academy, and Ugyen Academy could qualify for the national league.
These teams are well-established and have good game exposure with experienced players compared to the four other teams__Daga United FC, Phuentsholing Heroes FC, Panchali FC, and Royal Academy.
All senior national team players are in Transport United Ladies, RTC Women’s FC, BFF Academy, and Ugyen Academy Women’s FC.
Six teams will qualify for the national league.
Pema Choden Tshering from Transport United Ladies said, “Transport will 100 percent qualify for the national league. The new teams are not very competitive.”
Many believe that the talent pool in women’s football is meager in the country, making it difficult to form a commendable women’s team in dzongkhags other than Thimphu, Paro, and Punakha.
Of the four games played, Daga United FC won two against Phuentsholing Heroes FC 11-0 and Panchali FC 17-0. The team is yet to feature in three more games.
Pema Choden Tshering mentioned that Daga United could qualify for the national league. “Daga United has some former Thimphu Women’s FC players.”
Meanwhile, Phuentsholing Heroes FC, Panchali FC, and Royal Academy are yet to secure a point. All these teams lost both of their games.
On June 8, Royal Academy FC is set to face Panchali FC in Paro. Whoever wins could break their point deadlock.
