His Majesty the King visited the Khotokha Gyalsung Academy in Wangdue on Saturday.

Khotokha is one of four Gyalsung Academies in Bhutan. With the Gyalsung – National Service set to begin next month, His Majesty visited the Academy site to oversee preparations for the first cohort of Gyalsars to start their training. His Majesty visited the extensive grounds of the Academy, built with state of the art construction and infrastructure technology, which will be home for the youth of Bhutan who will take part in Gyalsung. His Majesty granted an Audience to Gyalsung Academy staff, in preparation of their important work taking care of and imparting knowledge and skills to Bhutan’s youth.

His Majesty the King was accompanied on the visit by the Prime Minister, Chief Operations Officer of the Armed Forces, and senior government officials. His Majesty emphasized the importance of ensuring the complete safety and wellbeing of the Gyalsars during the time they are under the care of the Academy.

Gyalsung was announced on National Day in 2019 as Bhutan’s National Service, in order to strengthen Bhutanese youth and equip them with the right skills to succeed anywhere in the world.
